Having used SnagIt for close to 7 years now it is unreliable at best. It is also feature-rich as compared to other screen capture software which makes it hard to switch to a competitor. SnagIt, when it works, is an extremely useful tool for creating videos on the fly or taking quick screenshots that you need to annotate. It has been a trainwreck of an experience, but given that it has many of the resources that I need to perform my job that other capturing software does not I'm stuck with it. There is more to be desired with the scrolling screen capture capabilities as this is not consistently supported across standard software applications (Word, Outlook, Excel) vs browser windows (Chrome, Edge, etc.). It's also appealing on the security side of things as there are features to blur content that you'd otherwise have to redact. The repository of previously captured images is helpful as well when needing to recall or reference a previously captured image. Within seconds you can take a screenshot, apply edits or graphic enhancements, and paste it into any number of other applications that allow pasting of images. The screen capture features are intuitive and quick to pick up on, with or without reference to user guides. The ease of use off the get-go makes this software highly appealing. It comes in handy daily for a variety for reasons and given how simplistic it is to use I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a best-in-breed tool in the screen capture market.
